Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (September 2, 2018) - The Salt Lake Community College men's soccer program finished its non-conference season with a strong showing Sunday.
The Bruins rolled past Sheridan College, 10-0, Â at Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman, finishing their non-conference schedule at a perfect 5-0. Salt Lake is receiving votes in the NJCAAÂ polls, meaning SLCC should gain prestige after the strong performances in the preseason.
The match against Sheridan was scoreless until the 23rd minute, with
Innocent Twishime opening up the scoring. Twishime scored a pair of goals, with
Enoch Mushagalusa also scoring two goals.
Jair Celis scored two goals in the second half, scoring the last goal in the 90th minute. Jonathan Guadarrama led the team with three assists, also scoring a goal.Â
Salt Lake took 37 shots-on-goal, holding Sheridan to no shots. The Bruins had 27 shots alone in the second half.Â
Salt Lake will start its play in the Scenic West Athletic Conference on Friday, with the Bruins playing Colorado Northwestern in two matches next weekend. SLCC's next home match will come on Sept. 14, as the Bruins host USU Eastern at Zions Bank Stadium.Â
