SB: Bruins Finish Season as the No. 3 Team in the Nation

ST. GEORGE, Utah- In a rematch between No. 3 Chipola and No. 2 Salt Lake the Bruins fell to the Indians 7-9 in the semi-finals of the NJCAA National Tournament to end their season. SLCC ends as the third team in the country with an incredible 48-9 overall season record.
 
"I'm so proud of the team for how hard they worked and all of the life lessons they have learned this season," Head Coach Cyndee Bennett said.

The Bruins got things going in the bottom of the first when Tina Ford was hit by a pitch and Karly Bunderson singled. Lauryn Goaslind then connect on a three RBI homerun to take an early 3-0 lead. Salt Lake was able to hold Chipola off until the top of the third when the Indians tied it up.
 
With some solid hitting in the bottom of the fourth and a wild pitch the Bruins were able to bring in Ashlee Crabtree to go up 4-3 going into the fifth. Salt Lake extended the lead in the bottom of the fifth. Ford singled up the middle and stole second. Bunderson singled to the middle advancing Ford to third. Fighting the pitches, Rae Gall connected on a three RBI homerun. With two outs, the Bruins loaded the bases but were unable to bring any runners in leaving three players left on base at the end of the fifth.
 
The Indians put up another run in the top of the sixth, but it was the five run seventh inning for Chipola that caused damage. With no outs, the Indians had the bases loaded. Catcher, Liz Osburn connected on a three RBI double to take the lead and ultimately the 9-7 win.
 
Addie Jensen started on the mound going 3.1 innings allowing three hits, two runs, and struck out two. Lauren Frailey relieved Jensen in the third. Chipola got seven hits and five runs off Frailey. Goaslind went 2-2 with one homerun and three RBI's. Karly Bunderson was 3-5 with two runs. Hitting a homer in the fourth, Gall was 1-5 with three RBI's. Ford used her speed as always going 1-3 earning two runs.  
 
All-Tournament Team
Four Bruins were named to the NJCAA National Championship All-Tournament team. Karly Bunderson, Tina Ford, Kylie Everill and Lauryn Goaslind all received the honor.
